Community Programme

Our Community Programme aims to bring people together in their local community to improve health and wellbeing and have a positive impact on their lives.

Improving health & wellbeing

Our Community Hub is open 6 days a week providing space and opportunity for people of all ages to connect.

We invite the local community to join a series of programmes designed to bring people together including lunch clubs, befriending projects, lunchtime concerts, fairs and fundraisers. We also provide a dedicated Volunteer Programme for all who are interested in helping at our caring services and in our community café.

Our Community Café, Café Connect is situated on the ground floor and it is run by our fully trained chef and dedicated volunteers.

Each week we provide a space for over 60 hours of regular classes, including a variety of children’s clubs and exercise classes for all ages that our community can book and attend.

We do all this to move closer to our vision to live in a community where no one feels lonely or isolated.

Gardening Project

We have had the exciting opportunity to develop a new garden project, funded by the Scottish government and administered by Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council (EVOC) for the purpose of improving the mental health and wellbeing of adults in our community.

While other projects at The Eric Liddell Community are aimed at certain groups, all are welcome to the garden project hosted by The Eric Liddell Community – serious gardeners, those that like to potter about, and others that are just after a cup of tea and company. All the sessions are led by a person trained in horticulture.

Lunchtime & Afternoon Tea Concerts

On the first Monday of every month we host a Lunchtime Concert in our Robertson Suite on the ground floor. This concert is followed by a soup and sandwich lunch and it is open to the community. Tickets cost £6/person and the price includes the lunch.

Our Afternoon Tea Concerts take place on the 3rd Monday of every month. This community gathering brings people together for an hour to listen to some music, while enjoying delicious afternoon tea treats. Tickets to this concert cost £5/person and it includes the afternoon tea snacks.

If you would like to come along to any of our concerts, you can book your seat by emailing Zsofia at molnarz@ericliddell.org

We are always treated to unique performances by accomplished musicians every month, the selection varies from classics to folk and many more. If you would like to perform at our upcoming concerts, we would love to hear from you.

Community Events

We host a range of events through out the year from volunteer gatherings, Burns Supper, concerts, Fairs and many more.

All income generated from our events allow us to continue the vital support we provide to the people who access our services and the wider community.
